Video Conferencing Tip (2.0): Wear Pants for (and don't expose yourself during) your Zoom Meetings, Conferences, and Hearings

Last week, CNN and The New Yorker Contributor Attorney Jeffrey Toobin got caught in a “hot mic” moment. At the end of a staff meeting, he was seen “exposed” by some of the conference’s participants. I have not yet learned enough to know whether this action was directed at the conference attendees or if he had thought the meeting was over and did not realize he had not logged out of the meeting. (As a side note, this event seems to have been dwarfed by Rudy Giuliani’s (another attorney) “hot mic” moment in the recently released Borat 2 Movie.) If the former, Mr. Toobin, may have some HR issues to deal within the realm of sexual harassment (if you are sexually harassed at work, consider contacting your supervisor, HR specialist, or a private attorney). Regardless, this reminds us of three crucial takeaways:

  1. Be appropriately dressed for Zoom Meetings, Conferences, and Hearings (and don’t undress or expose yourself until you are logged out of the meeting; you know your cam is off; and you are sure your camera is off [sound too!]);

  2. Be appropriately dressed for Zoom Meetings, Conferences, and Hearings (and don’t undress or expose yourself until you are logged out of the meeting; you know your cam is off; and you are sure your camera is off [sound too!]);

  3. Be appropriately dressed for Zoom Meetings, Conferences, and Hearings (and don’t undress or expose yourself until you are logged out of the meeting; you know your cam is off; and you are sure your camera is off [sound too!]).

I realize that people are taking liberties while working at home due to COVID. But don’t forget, when you are working from home, you are at work. So, get dressed!
